Virtual Testing – Human Modeling in Pedestrian Protection

Certification and Homologation by means of Virtual Testing has been a goal in the automotive industry for quite some time. However progress in this area has been slow. Ever increasing requirements from consumer protection and legal organisations are accelerating the pace for accepted procedures to use virtual testing as an alternative or supplement to physical testing and approval.

Since Euro NCAP introduced performance evaluation of active bonnets, the calculation of head impact time and bonnet deflection have been door openers for both virtual testing and the use of Human Body Models (HBM) in the serial development departments.

Our new series on Virtual Testing starts with the online event „Virtual Testing – Human Modeling in Pedestrian Protection“.

  • What is going on in the field of virtual assessment of VRU protection?
  • Which kind of model do I need for specific VRU analyses?
  • How does Euro NCAP solve the task to certify a wide range of models for pedestrian impact?

Find out how to use human body models in serial development to improve the pedestrian protection performance! Expect presentations from international experts in modeling and research, as well as live discussions with the authors and other attendees during the breaks.

Christoph Leo (TU Graz) will present the VIRTUAL WP4 approaches during this seminar organised by carhs.training.
